2024 solar eclipse
Today there's a solar eclipse that's going to travel directly through the North American continent.
These events have far more impact than people tend to realize. A full solar eclipse is an event that will grab the attention of people in a much stronger manner than many things. This will be the most important event in 2024 for many people, it won't be some bullshit like the Olympics (an event that really doesn't matter but is sold to everyone as though it does), but rather an event that might cause many people to shift their perspectives. I remember the last solar eclipse that I saw that passed through Ontario, I got to see the partial eclipse in 2017. I remember clearly at the time being fully focused on this event while it was happening.
For the most part people live in a state where their attention is mostly stolen from them. When there's a solar eclipse peoples attention will sit on this event, at least for a day or two, but probably longer. In this time a huge group of people will be focused on the same thing at the same time and its very powerful whenever this happens.
This is powerful because the group consciousness can't really focus on many things at once, so focusing on the eclipse will bounce out other ideas from people's minds for a while.
Given the backdrop of events happening in the world at the moment I think this solar eclipse forms an important inflection point with which we will see changes. We are already seeing many false narratives under extreme stress as people's attention shifts, this shift in attention will cause shifts to people's thinking and hence to narratives going forward.
Something I find challenging is that I'm typically so much earlier to see the start of trends than other people that it can make it harder for me to connect with others on topics. By the time other people start to see events as "new" I've often moved on. I suspect this cultural inflection point from the solar eclipse is like my calls for future inflation/hyperinflation that I made back in 2019/2020, at the time people in the general populace thought what I was saying was unlikely or preposterous. When you see the start of trends as they appear your consciousness is processing things so early that by the time the changes start to be seen by the masses the conversations with the people who were the first to notice are often long forgotten. For example right now people don't remember when the whole inflation thing started because they weren't paying attention when it started, increasingly people are paying attention now as the trend is impacting the directly and personally. This is part of why I think the written word is so important, you can look back later and see who saw what and at what point they saw it. With enough context and detail you can start to see what it was that allowed some people to see things while others did not. This is something I've really appreciated reading the works of Robert Briffault and Felix Somary, they were so far ahead of the curve that people didn't understand fully how right they were about things until far later, if they ever even encountered these thoughts at all. Even to this day there's deep truths from these authors that the general populace cannot face as those thoughts are still too new for many, despite some of these thoughts being over a hundred years old now.
When I start thinking about things like eclipses I start to think about bigger picture stuff, mundane daily thoughts take a back seat for a while, this gives space for far more profound thoughts to emerge. I think back to other authors and thinkers who looked at the cosmos and sense a deep connection with these thinkers from the past. In this day and age we are constantly pushed a lie that we know far more now than people did in the past. This is pushed on us to manipulate us into thinking that we should downplay everything in the past. Don't use this perfectly good thing from the past, buy the new thing. Don't think about this from a past perspective that makes sense, think the new thing you are being told to think. Don't reuse old things, be a good consumer who's detached from the essence of what makes you a powerful person. This trend includes by association downplaying traditionalism and the wisdom of the past but that comes with a higher cost than people realize. The collective wisdom of past thinking is actually immense and casting this away is not to be done lightly, Chesterton's Fence is more real than we like to admit to ourselves. Celestial events can be a good way to remind us that we live as part of something bigger than ourselves and that we should keep our modern hubris in check.
