Lockdown is lifting in Melbourne and this might be the last COVID lockdown.
The Australian Open Tennis tournament offered a number of interesting insights into life in 2021 and I've finally got around to writing about it during the French Open.
During 2020 we have seen a lot of sporting events with no audience, and one of hte most bizarre things was events with canned audience noises that drew attention to the fact there was no audience. The peak bizarreness might have been at the 2020 World Snooker Championship where the canned applause sounded completely fake.
With the most recent Stage 4 (currently the most severe level) lock downs in Melbourne set to keep going on for a while with entire states like Western Australia mostly operating as usual will we see some cultural divergence as a result?
The air quality in Melbourne is noticeably better at the moment.
